April 24, 2012Texas State Windsurfing Festival 2012 Great Success!
Good winds on Friday afternoon allowed our celebrity, Kevin Pritchard, to at least get some rides in on the Starboard Isonic 117, which I tried and let me tell ya', it don't mess-around. You just get
in the straps and plane away.
The wind died down to extremely light just in time for the races on Saturday, which is they way
it goes at about 75% of our North Texas windsurfing regatta's, and this time people were wise enough to bring long boards. Old Man Wind is not very punctual.
The party that night was...great, amazing! The band Zionaura rocked the place
while people danced and both old and new friends got caught up or
made new memories. Races the next day were much the same as the day before. It ended with a very positive impression left
on both Kevin Pritchard, and Tim Ortleib (representing Ezzy Sails)who said that
they had never seen a community event like this after traveling all
over the U.S., and that if all the other communities were doing
things like we do in North Texas, windsurfing would be growing like
crazy.
January 28, 20121st Independent Kayak Swap Meet Event Report
Despite the cold and windy weather we had a decent turnout for the 1st Independent Kayak Swap Meet sale.
Mariner Sails let kayak sellers and vendors use our parking lot to sell anything related to paddle sports and outdoors. There were several canoes, kayaks, paddles, technical wear, electronics, and many other items at the swap meet. Some shoppers who were not sure what they wanted, or could not find the kayak they were looking for, wandered into our store to expand their options.
Several customers got their questions answered about kayak options, and some left with new kayaks – very anxious to get them on the water. Please keep up with our website for information on other
kayak swap meets Mariner Sails may host in the future.

December 3, 2011 Christmas Party Report
We had people from every part of the wind and water sports community attend this years Christmas party! It was a mixed bag of nuts that braved the rainy weather and traffic to get here, and attendance certainly did not disappoint. The windsurfers with their energetic qualities dominated the ping pong table, while paddlers browsed our kayaks while swapping stories and discussing various kayak builds. Big boat sailors chatted about racing, boat maintenance, and travel, while occasionally conferring with Eddie Lockey (our
new sail maker) about all manner of sail design, and let’s not forget the catamaran community; we all know how they are
at parties.
A variety of delicious dishes appeared along side Aris’s famous meatballs, including Daniel Carrol’s smoked brisket, and many sinfully delicious deserts! Santa and his bird-friend were of course attending. This time Santa held his liquor without falling off this Hobie
Pro-Angler.
This report is from Lilah Grey Baker: "I would like to thank EVERYONE at Mariners Sails for such a fantastic party! Best of friends, best food EVER; and so glad sailors know how to have FUN! Thank you Aris, thank you Jaws, and everyone else that was responsible for the fantastic decorations, etc, etc. Had to leave early to attend another Christmas party, but you guys really know how to put on a good "spread."
