Meet the Staff

Our staff members are experienced sailors, windsurfers, as well as recreational paddlers, so you tap into well over 100 years of combined "on-the-water" experience with every purchase.

Aris Tsamis - President and Owner
Aris has been involved in the sailing business since the early 1970's, working his way from basic entry positions through rigging, sales, instruction, warranty, and management. Aris has been a positive, consistent influence for the growth of the wind and water sports community in North Texas.

A native of North Texas, Aris has been an avid sailor since he was eleven; bringing decades of knowledge to our company.  With a warm, energetic, and enthusiastic approach to all things (including his staff and customers) he can invoke pleasant communication with anyone, allowing him to promote his passions through the business.

Aris is also a walking encyclopedia on all subjects related to sailing, windsurfing, paddling, and standup paddle boarding (he has bona fide, extensive experience in most of these water sports venues).  If Aris doesn't know the answer to your questions he'll do his best to find the answers from our extensive source of industry contacts.

Mike Stovall
- Paddling (Kayaks) and Sailing
With a calm manner and easygoing attitude Mike can help you with your basic hydrotherapy.

Mike is known for making sure everyone understands the ins and outs of all manner of kayaks for those interested.  He understands that water sports are key to psychological and physical well-being, and he treats each person as an individual with specialized hydro-therapeutic needs.  Mike has loads of consistent paddling, and solid sailing experience.  He can be found every Thursday evening at White Rock Lake paddling and/or demonstrating kayaks with Chris.

John Webster - Sailing (Catamaran Specialist) and Paddling
This witty and outgoing Aussie exuberantly shakes up the sailing community, and encourages newcomers to get out there.

John is our most recent addition to our retail staff; that doesn't mean he is any less experienced.  In fact, John is our most avid and experienced catamaran sailor, and possibly one of the most active and skilled cat sailors in North Texas.  John has been everywhere and sailed throughout Australia, Central America, and North America.  He is a frequent participant in the Great Texas 300 long distance catamaran regatta, this is one of many regatta venues he is experienced with.

Alan Raby - Windsurfing, Kayaks, Standup Paddle Boards, IT (Web Marketing), and Shipping
This passionate and gregarious young fellow is always stoked about helping people get on the water.

A native of the Texas Coast, Alan was first introduced to windsurfing through Mariner Sails over 10 years ago.  He quickly devoured everything related to the sport, and shortly thereafter found himself 'hooked' in the wake of tropical storms on the coast.  When given an opportunity to promote the sport he goes from slightly stoic to immediately animated; he leaves no question of windsurfing's place as a pure form of sailing and at the top-end of all water sports. Alan is also an experienced paddler, and can sometimes be found paddling on Thursday nights at White Rock Lake. To help promote windsurfing, Alan brings a lot of web administration, internet SEO, design, and IT skills to the table, and has recently founded www.windsurfquest.net.

Eddie Lockey - Loft Manager, Sail Maker, Designer
Eddie is the smiling face of our sail loft, and he provides excellent service with years of high-tech sail design and R&D experience to back him up.

Eddie began his career originally with Mariner Sailmakers (that's us) in 1982.  He became an avid windsurfer in Corpus Christi, and later Maui, Hawaii in the height of the windsurfing boom.  He has worked is way up from sail maker to research, testing, and design for both boat sails and windsurfing for world renowned sail making company Simmer Sails.  Eddie has recently returned to his first passion, sail making, from corporate sales and marketing.  He also is a frequent participant in sail boat sailing and racing (such as Flying Scots). We are lucky to have Eddie's skills, experience, and passion for sail making.

Chris Beal  - Sail Making & Sail Repair
Chris has worked his way up in our company to sail-making and repair very rapidly with a solid, steady work ethic and results that speaks for itself.

He is responsible for all the intricate details involved with stitching, patching, fitting, and sail shaping.

Rose Reyes - Seamstress
Rose is hardworking and a pleasant presence for all who know her.

Rose is the force behind the scenes for our sail making department.  Without Rose we would be unable to keep up with the ever-increasing amount of orders in our sail loft.  She is responsible for much of the stitching, fabric processing, and non-sailing related construction.
